Valuations don't seem to have mattered lately

This is a great point! Valuations don't seem to have mattered lately, but they'll (hopefully) come into play again at some point. "Trees don't grow to the sky" and all that. To the OP: I watched Aswath's valuation and corporate finance classes. He has a version available that's essentially a summary of the full lecture class. If you're on the fence you can check out the summary version and see if you like it. The cool thing is that he offers all his content online for free (even class notes and full class lectures).

His valuation expertise or methodology is not in question at all

It is complicated and whether you want to go to that length of study is up to you. Particularly in an era when valuations of companies tend to make little difference to their stock price action.
