Practical Product Development is an intensive, project-based course where students design and build their own functional physical product from concept through a refined, manufacturing-ready prototype. Across 12+ weeks, it covers reverse engineering, requirements definition, mechanical design fundamentals, design for manufacturing and assembly (injection molding, sheet metal, snap fits), cost engineering, failure analysis, and portfolio/interview preparation, taught by three instructors with combined decades of real hardware industry experience across Google, medical devices, aerospace, and clean energy.

Shivam Dehinwal is a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, currently at Gravity working on EV infrastructure, previously at Salient Energy and as a Design Engineering Intern at 10XBeta. A University of Pennsylvania Integrated Product Design graduate originally from India, he's designed products ranging from energy storage systems to a hardware product for Google, and co-founded Additive Engineering with fellow instructor Cris Sion.
